4 domestic animals (of the same species) over 6 months of age.

Maximum 8 dogs and cats, with a maximum of 4 dogs and maximum of 4 cats

The City of Carrollton has a pet limit of 2 cats OR 2 dogs on any premises within the

City that has no enclosed backyard fencing.
No more than 3 dogs and 3 cats may be kept in a rear yard providing an enclosure

such as: a fence.

(O) Excessive animals means an accumulation of animals which, by virtue of the
owner’s lot size, the number, types and sizes of animals of animals being kept,
the owner’s ability to provide care, the distance from neighboring properties,
and other factors of care, results in an animal nuisance or endangers the
health of any person or animal.

A person commits an offense if the person possesses, harbors, or keeps any number
of animals in excess of the number prescribed by the Supervisor of Animal Services.

(B) In making a determination of excessive animals, the Supervisor of Animal
Services shall consider the following factors:

(1) The size of the property at which the animals are being kept which
may include, but is not limited to,  the size of any dwelling in which
the animals are being kept.

(2) The number of animals present.

(3) The size of each animal.

(4) The apparent physical health of each animal.

(5) The type of each animal.

(6) The owner’s apparent ability to provide care for each animal.

(7) The distance of the owner’s property from neighboring properties.

(8) The history and validity of animal nuisance complaints from
neighboring residents.

10 pets in a single family and up to 5 in a multi-family. If duplex with a shared wall, you need a multi-pet permit & all need to be vaccinated and licensed indoor cats. Except as provided by this section, no single-family, residentially zoned property within the City shall harbor more than ten (10) adult animals, no more than four (4) of which may be intact. No duplex or multi-family residentially zoned property shall harbor more than five (5) adult animals, no more than one (1) of which may be intact. No residence within the City shall harbor more than one (1) litter, clutch, or other group of offspring, whether whole or in part, at any time.

Our 1988 Animal Control Ordinance and the 2005 Zoning Code do not have a pet limit established. As long as no nuisance is created, there should not be an issue.

We do have a limit of 5 pets per household in Sachse. All those pets have to be registered with the city.
