How to report inaccuracies in your credit
reports?
Part 9:
As part of series of articles (blogs)
regarding Credit and Credit Score, here we
go:
After you find out an item is inaccurate or
obsolete, you need to dispute and communicate
that to the reporting agencies. The addresses
and phone numbers of the three major credit
bureaus are shown on below
“Equifax, Experian and TransUnion Addresses,
Phone Numbers and Websites“
This information includes their address, phone
numbers, websites and their preferred method of
communication (e.g., letter, call, website
forms, etc.).
After the credit bureau receives your dispute,
they will contact the credit grantor to verify
your disputed information. The creditor has 30
days to respond. If the creditor does not
respond within thirty (30) days of receiving the
dispute from the credit bureau, the disputed
item will be tagged as non-verifiable and will
be removed from the credit file. Depending on
the received information from the creditor, the
original information may be corrected (updated)
or may stay as is.
